MedTech partnership workshop – designing interregional collaborations

MedTech partnership, an initiative supported by EU’s Smart specialisation platform, aims to provide the best framework for initiatives through collaborative inter-regional projects 28 participants attended the Medical Technologies Thematic platform meeting (so called MedTech partnership) held on 07th of February in Auvergne Rhône-Alpes offices in Lyon. Regions’ and clusters’ representatives from 15 European regions exchanged, during this day-long meeting, around priorities, strategies and concrete collaborative projects on MedTech innovations. Medical Technologies (MedTech) are medical devices, in vitro diagnostics, imaging equipment and e-health solutions used to diagnose, monitor, assess predispositions and treat patients suffering from a wide range of conditions. By empowering the participation of citizens and transforming the care cycle to more person-centred and community-based care models, medical technologies will not only allow Europe to maximise the potential of Digital Economy for Healthcare sector, but also ensure a better access to healthcare for all. Europe needs smart, scalable and sustainable solutions building on innovation opportunities coming from integration of Key Enabling Technologies (KET) with digitalisation. MedTech partnership is aiming to make EU top regional stakeholders collaborate to that end. This partnership is namely part of the Smart Specialisation Platform for Industrial Modernisation (S3P-Industry), that aims to support EU regions committed to generate a pipeline of industrial investment projects following a bottom-up approach - implemented through interregional cooperation, cluster participation and industry involvement.
